The work carried out in the first expert meeting with clinical conclusions on the treatment of severe mandibular atrophies through PSI implants is presented.

Personalized Subperiosteal Implants (PSI) are a promising treatment option for rehabilitating patients with severe maxillary atrophies, but the available data on their use are quite scarce, making it difficult to establish clinical recommendations based on scientific evidence.
For this reason, a group of notable experts in biomedical engineering, implantology, maxillofacial surgery, and prosthetics was selected to discuss the main aspects related to the use of PSI implants in a working meeting, such as planning and design, clinical and rehabilitation protocols, and possible complications and their treatment.
The participants, gathered on May 12, 2023, at Avinent’s facilities, had the opportunity to share their clinical and technical experiences during the meeting, as well as the results of some of their research.
The main recommendations and conclusions obtained in this first Consensus on Customized Subperiosteal Implants, organized by Avinent, have been collected in the article “Customized Subperiosteal Implants for the Rehabilitation of Atrophic Jaws: A Consensus Report and Literature Review” published this January in the Biomimetics journal of MDPI.
You can find the publication in the following section of our website, or alternatively, access the link directly by clicking here.
We would like to thank the participation and teamwork of each of the professionals who attended the Consensus, to achieve the publication of its results.
Avinent Group continues to support professionals in creating scientific evidence and clinical guidelines on the use of this innovative treatment alternative.
But the desire to research, collaborate, and share knowledge has not ended for the corporation, as new editions of the Consensus are currently being worked on, which will be released in the short term.
