The conferences held and the <strong>scientific and academic partnerships<\/strong> <strong>developed with advanced research centers<\/strong> position the firm as a leading actor in knowledge creation within the sector.<\/p>\n<p>Within this context, and in conjunction with the <strong>University of Barcelona (UB)<\/strong>, AVINENT has run the <strong>Intensive Workshop on Implantology<\/strong> for the last seven years. Offered at the UB\u2019s Dental Hospital located on the Bellvitge Campus, the Intensive Workshop on Implantology is for generalist and specialist dentists, and <strong>focuses on gaining a basic knowledge of dental implant placement<\/strong>. This course attracts medical professionals from all over Spain, and its content is divided into theory and practice. The first practical component involves dissection and placement of implants in the heads of corpses, and the second entails placement of implants in patients.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.avinent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/12\/fets\/elena-lopezen.jpg?1490105132876\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"163\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Elena L\u00f3pez<\/strong>, the workshop teacher and the section head of patients and clinical practice, tells us that <em>\u201cthe aim of this intensive training is to offer a basic theoretical and practical knowledge to introduce dentists, stomatologists and maxillofacial surgeons to the placement of dental implants\u201d<\/em>. According to Dr. L\u00f3pez, students are taught mainly to be able<strong> <em>\u201cto identify, diagnose and assess the risks before placing implants in their patients, as well as a number of simple, clear concepts at a surgical level so that they can successfully apply the techniques to their own clinical cases.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> Along similar lines, <strong>Dr. Sergio Garc\u00eda Bellosta<\/strong>, a lecturer in dissection and clinical practice, explains that <em>\u201cimplantology is not risk free, and it requires a learning curve\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A highly successful and well-received course<br \/>\n<\/strong>From the outset, the Intensive Workshop on Implantology has been very well received, with demand for places nearly always outstripping those available. What are the highlights for students? Academically and technically, <strong>Dr. Mar\u00eda Clara A\u00f1\u00f3n<\/strong>, a workshop participant, in particular <strong>highlights <em>\u201cpre-intervention assessment, how to create a suitable flap and how to angle drill bits when it comes to establishing parallelism\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. <strong>Dr. Pablo Jes\u00fas Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, also a participant in the last course, adds that <em>\u201cthe aseptic protocols are also very important\u201d<\/em>. Meanwhile, <strong>Dr. Antoni Beltr\u00e1n<\/strong>, another participant, particularly values the teaching staff\u2019s expertise and amenability: <em>\u201cthe workshop is very comprehensive and instructional\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.avinent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/12\/fets\/foto-clara-anonen.jpg?1490105163923\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"163\"><\/p>\n<p>According to Dr. Sergio Garc\u00eda, <em><strong>\u201cstudents starting out in implantology tend to have problems with intraoperative spatial orientation regardless of their prior surgical experience. Prior planning with CT scans and the use of surgical guides is therefore highly recommended\u201d<\/strong><\/em>. In Dr. Elena L\u00f3pez\u2019s opinion, the function of teachers is to supervise and instruct in a consistent manner, and this is especially so <em>\u201cin clinical practice cases with patients in whom, for example, bone regeneration needs to be performed after placing the implant due to a lack of bone\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.avinent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/12\/fets\/antoni-beltran-en.jpg?1490105198150\" alt=\"\" width=\"744\" height=\"163\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>AVINENT is committed to the workshop, bringing its products and knowledge to it<br \/>\n<\/strong>The teachers and the participants on the Intensive Workshop in Implantology value AVINENT implants very highly.
