It provides an alternative to restorations\nwith conventional complete prostheses and the functional inability that this\nentails, above all in the mandible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This type of patient usually presents mandibular\nreabsorption with narrow socket crests as a consequence of complete edentulism\nfor a long period of time. This situation, alongside the existence of\nanatomical structures such as the dental nerve, can increase the complexity of\nimplant treatments, forcing us to use more complex techniques to guarantee a\ngood result.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The success of these complete fixed restorations\nwith implants is high provided there is good maintenance and control of the\nperiimplant tissues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Clinical case<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Edentulate patient aged 87 years, comes to the clinic as she cannot tolerate the mobility of the complete lower prosthesis she has had for more than 10 years.\u00a0  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"438\" src=\"https:\/\/avinent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/6_1-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"7515\" data-link=\"https:\/\/www.avinent.com\/protesis-completa-removible-sobre-implantes-avinent-biomimetic-iceberg\/1-50\/\" class=\"wp-image-7515\"\/><figcaption>Initial situation of the patient.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/avinent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/3_4-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"7530\" data-link=\"https:\/\/www.avinent.com\/protesis-completa-removible-sobre-implantes-avinent-biomimetic-iceberg\/4-58\/\" class=\"wp-image-7530\"\/><figcaption>Initial situation of the patient.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Procedure<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After explaining to the patient that the bone reabsorption in the mandible hinders the stability of the prosthesis, we proposed fitting four Avinent Biomimetic Iceberg implants and converting her complete prosthesis (CP) into a fixed implant-supported overdenture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this in a minimally invasive way, it was decided to use guided placement for the implants. Using a functional digital impression of the patient&#8217;s CP with Permlastic (Kerr), the STL was printed to make a radiographic splint with gutta-percha markers using the dual scan protocol. In this case, with prior digital\nplanning and a minimally invasive treatment, we were able to provide a solution\nto the patient&#8217;s problem with her complete lower prosthesis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of Biomimetic Iceberg implants enabled us to provide stability\nin the soft tissues, producing a peripheral seal and achieving a good clinical\nresult, preserving a ridge of keratinized gum for correct maintenance of the\npatient&#8217;s implants in the medium and long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-6 is-layout-flex
